Egg Pin Cushion Wristlet

This pin cushion was made for the Upcycled Pincushion Swap USA/Canada. I used a quarter machine egg that I found and some scraps. I should have used elastic for the band, but I couldn't find any left in my stash so I used a button. When it is not in use, the other part of the egg can be put on to store the pins safely in place. I may just make another one for me! :)

Pin Cushion Jar

This jar is from some homemade jam my sister gave me. I actually used the jar to cart all my sewing stuff that I needed to finish the Coffee Cozy at Bigby's Coffee Shop. It is now upgraded to have a pin cushion on the top and a magnet inside the lid for storing the pins. The magnet is strong enough that I can hover the lid over my work surface and it will pick up all the pins. (It holds more than what is shown in the picture.) It fits all the necessities for a portable sewing kit. :)

Coffee Cozy

I made this coffee cozy for the Coffee Cozy Swap. I just had to go to Biggby's and try it out! I love it so much I almost didn't send it! I can hardly wait to see what mine will look like!

Mini Curio Cabinet

This mini curio cabinet was made from the obvious found items and a cleaned out makeup container. I made it for the Wonder Cabinet Fantastic Relic Swap. This is the story letter I created to go with it:

A fresh start

I have decided to start blogging, again. Although I can't stop people from stealing ideas, I can stop it from being flaunted in my face! Any projects I blog about, feel free to try out. Just please give proper credit. I would love to see your versions!:)

Another Pillowcase Apron

First of all:

I would like to thank Nikki for the awesome postcard! Into my scrapbook it goes! :)


Now my latest:

I made this apron from a pillowcase. It looks better on me than on the dress form as I have more curves than the form. (which makes me happy)

I made 2 pockets for it out of the scraps, but only put one on. I like it better this way. My hubby calls it my "recipe pocket." And the buttons on the neck strap add to the look, and also, make it adjustable. It has ties in the upper and lower back.

It took me a quite a few days to make it, but only because I wouldn't spend much time on it in each sitting.

I decided I'm much too messy in the kitchen for a half apron to suffice. LOL I can now taste test without spilling hot hot food on "the girls." And I can wipe my hands down my sides instead of just my front.

I'm thinking about adding more to it, but for now I'll call it done! :)

Apron & Toddler Dress

As promised; I have 2 things to post about that actually turned out
well. Maybe my luck really is turning up! The first is an apron that
I made out of a pillow case and part of a sheet. I really like how it
turned out. Please
forgive the wrinkles, I haven't ironed it yet.



















The second is a pink toddler dress. It has green ribbon straps that tie into cute little bows at the top. They match the leaves (that aren't showing up well in the pic.) It has daisies and bumble bees on it. It is so girly, but I absolutely love it!

Carton Coin Purse

I got this idea from cut out and keep. But I had a smaller carton than they used, so I pretty much had to figure it out on my own, since their measurements wouldn't work.

There are so many different ways of making these things all over the internet. I will probably be making the future ones in completely different ways each. That way I can decide which ways work best.

I, also, used the scraps to make a business card holder that I've sewntogether with my sewing machine! I haven't put the velcro on it, yet.

Could you really expect me to turn down doing a project like this when I have this kind of carton in my grasps!?! LOL

Ok, so this refashion isn't clothing, and wasn't before, but it is an accessory so I'm not sure if it counts.

My MIL buys local rice in cloth bags. When I asked what she does with the bags after they are empty, she said she throws them away! (WHAT!?!) So, needless to say, the next few bags became MINE!

When you hear bag turned into another bag, it doesn't sound like much of a transformation. But I think it turned out kinda cool. The pictures don't do it any justice tho.

They even have a recipe and the history story on them! No lining, but it is canvas fabric so it can handle it. the gold for the handle and on the top was scraps. I barely had enough. Hence the one handle. However, I did attach the handle so it laps over from one side to the other.....well enough support.

Style ADD!!!

One problem with being open-minded and interested in everything is that it makes one's "style" become so confusing that it is easy to loose track of self. I've been trying to figure out what my style is...and pretty much who I am. I swear I have a serious case of style ADD! And I'm not sure if my craft style matches my dressing style. So here I am trying to make sense of it all:

Goth/Emo

I like some of these styles, but not enough to feel like I look good in them. I do love the jolly roger/poison symbol, and make many things with it on them, but they usually end up just collecting dust. (But skulls are also fashionable in other styles nowadays, too!)

Rock & Roll
I love both the music and the style. I do own more of this style than any other, but I don't always feel like looking this way. And sometimes I feel out of place. However, it does hold up to my lifestyle.

Vintage
I like many vintage things But I can't see myself liking how I look in most vintage fashions.

Girly
I love making dresses. I like to look pretty. And I would like the way many look on me if life were a still shot...But I get out of vehicles one leg at a time...And dresses aren't that practical with how I live my life.

Skanky
I can design the hell out of some cool ass skank-wear, but I don't like to show much, and I don't like to look trashy.

Hippie
Hippie-wear is sooo cute and comfy. I do think alot of it looks good on me. And most of it is eco-friendly...which is kinda a big deal to me. But most of it can't handle my lifestyle.

Crafty
Of course I love to make everything under the sun, but I don't really know what I feel about the crafty look. I do like things I see with that style, but I never really tested out how I feel wearing it.

When it comes down to it, most of what I own doesn't match anything else I own, so I end up wearing mostly jeans and t-shirts. (Which I hate, but it does hold up to my lifestyle and is easy to match up on a whim.) And I am so weird about wanting clothes that are original and different, and that make people turn heads in a good way, but I hate to be stared at, and always think people are thinking bad things when they look at me. I hate my feet and simply don't know how to match shoes to outfits, so I always end up wearing my steel-toes. I LOOOVE SCARVES!!! But I can't ever seem to find something that matches them that I want to wear. And they get taken off and left places since I can't wear them safely when using machinery or hunched over a motor. I love to make purses and hand bags, but I usually don't carry them because I can't match them up, and I also forget I have them and leave them places. I, also, don't know how to style my hair to match these fashions. I can think things up but can't pull them off.
